The mission of the air force includes as main task safeguarding Swiss airspace.
Organisation
The Swiss Air Force is a partial service of the armed forces and thus part of the Defence sector (D) of the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS). The Air Force forms the D sector in conjunction with the other partial service Land Forces, the Armed Forces Logistics Organisation (AFLO), the Command Support Organisation ( AFCSO), the Armed Forces College (AFC) as well as the Armed Forces Planning Staff (AFPS) and the Armed Forces Joint Staff (AFJS).
