On 4 April 2007, the Beech 1900D which has been hired by the Swiss Air Force for three years crossed the Swiss border from Germany at 10:35 a.m. and landed shortly afterwards in Bern-Belp. The plane is run by the Federal Air Transport Service (LTDB) and is stationed at Dübendorf. The machine is matriculated in Germany as D-CBIG, but has the Swiss cross painted on its rudder and SWISS AIR FORCE written across its fuselage. The oval fuselage of the Beech 1900D with a cabin height of 1,81 m has been especially designed to allow passengers to stand upright. The Beech 1900D replaces the Learjet 35A which has been decommissioned since 10 April 2007.
